Isn’t it time for you to LET IT GO?

I’m sure this isn’t surprising to anyone, but I am absolutely addicted to Disney’s FROZEN. Like… a lot!

Why?

Well, of course I love that there’s finally a Disney story that is more about family than it is about the Princess finding her Prince. And YES, this one comes with a powerful cast, many of whom come from Broadway. I mean, Idina Menzel is pretty much required listening in my Diva Book!

Speaking of Adele Dazeem…. Ooops. I mean, Idina Menzel… is there anyone out there who doesn’t love “Let It Go”?

Well, maybe my partner doesn’t appreciate it as much lately since I’ve pretty much been playing it on loop since the movie came out in November. But anyhow, I’m getting sidetracked…

I love everything about this song, but today, specifically these lyrics mean more to me than anything:

“It’s time to see what I can do,
to test the limits and break through.
No right, no wrong, no rules for me.
I’m free!”

Like any of us, I get stuck sometimes. I might second-guess an idea or hesitate to step out of my comfort zone. Well all do it, right? But WHY?

So today I am breaking through my own limits to LET IT GO! I have lots of exciting things coming soon to share with you, and nothing will stop me!

Here I stand. And here I’ll stay.

TODAY’S QUESTION: Name an obstacle that might be holding you back, personally or professionally? What one thing can you do right now to start to move past it?

  1. Halfway to my weight loss goal and sometimes I get so tired of being good, but pushing forward, and trying to develop good habits to get it off and KEEP IT OFF!

  2. LETTING GO! I am going to let go of feeling overwhelmed because it is a senseless paralyzing emotion!!!!!!!! It keeps me from getting things done so from here on out I will just act AS IF everything is completely in control and perfect 🙂 Thanks Brian! That was inspirational!

    • I completely agree with this one as it has been a challenge for me as well! The sad truth is I LOVE being busy. So we just prioritize and move forward, one step at a time.

  3. I am letting go of “someday.” Read a great quote somewhere. There are 7 days in a week and NONE of them are “someday.” That book I was going to write someday, is almost half done. Rough draft is finished. Illustration next. Someday is gone. Today is here. It feels good. Frightening, but good.

  4. I have thought about this often. I feel like the best thing I can Let Go is resentment. Resentment for ex-friends, ex-family members, and exes in general. I have resented things too much and life is too short to do all of that. One of my goals for the New Year was to let whatever I was holding onto in the last year I was forgetting. I would only go on what happened this year to form my opinion of people that I may resent. And to tell you the truth, it makes me a much happier person. Like I said, life is too short to be resentful and mean all of the time. If you are ok with me then I am ok with you.

  5. Lego’ My Ego

Ego is one of the worst things that can hold us back from realizing our potential. We all have strengths and weaknesses but the failure to see ourselves objectively, especially the weaknesses we don’t want to have, keeps us from seeing reality accurately. And that prevents us from understanding how to effectively interact with that reality to achieve our goals. Know what you are good at and what you’re not, work on the things you can change and work around the things you can’t.
